I recently watched the movie Sivaji, dubbed in Tamil. It was about this guy Sivaji who literally becomes like a god-figure for his people, but you never question the main character's motives because he is an over-the-top good guy. He always has people's best interests at heart, and is constantly seeking to do good for strangers. He does it all with humor and energy that makes him likeable despite his faults (he literally flips out when someone questions him). The action sequences are absolutely flawless; if you're into that kind of thing then these scenes are probably worth watching on their own--many of them consist of creative choreography mixed with traditional wire work or parkour. The color palate is vivid, which makes the experience that much more enjoyable because it takes you out of reality. These elements make it very enjoyable to watch, but they are secondary to the over-arching theme of the movie which is the story of a man's ambition. The movie's title character is a street performer/thief who eventually becomes king of his country after he allies himself with some very powerful people. He gets there by outsmarting everyone else and doing whatever he can to ensure he achieves his goal, even if it means killing other people who get in his way (sometimes violently). He is a true example of why some people say that some people don't deserve to be king. He's a torturer and serial killer--he doesn't truly care for his people, he only cares about himself. The movie ends with him walking on the streets and singing, and I'm having trouble remembering if he actually ruled his country or not. It was depressing enough that he got the title, but the ending made me think that we should all just give up on trying to be kings or queens. We may think we deserve it, but it turns out we don't because no one can ever tell what we would do once they were gone so of course they won't expect us to try to rule any way. – dan I thought the film was fairly interesting and it was very well done. The visuals were very powerful and the story line itself is phenomenal. After reading some of the reviews, I do think some people were trying to make this movie more than what it seems. This movie is about ambition. It does not really talk about right or wrong, or choosing between good or bad. Instead, it shows ambition by creating a man who will go to any extreme to achieve his goal of ruling his country, whether it be through violence or persuasion, he uses any method available to him for his success. It does not really matter if he is a good person because he is also a deceiving person. He knows how to play people and get what he wants from them. A lot of people may say that this is a bad thing, but if someone was to tell you that they wanted you to help them rule a country, then I'm sure most of us would do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal. The only reason why I give this movie an 8.5 on 10 is because on occasion it got slow for me. The background music was great and the visuals were outstanding, but at times I thought it could have been faster paced or more action oriented. cfa1e77820
